On the 31st of December last year I went on a photography marathon - snapping frames to preserve memories for the Eye é City collaborative project. 36 photographs were whittled down from a memory card of a around hundred: not such a difficult task, mostly because many sucked, and submitted just past New Year’s midnight. See, I’m in here! (Part of me anyway… in the red t-shirt all the way to the left.) My earliest memory of 2007 was sitting in the car as my dad expertly navigated about to avoid the fearsome traffic jam which usually accompanies island-wide celebrations, such as the much-over-hyped Countdown 2007.
And finally, I had to choose three from this pool of 36 for the final round of submission. A choice plagued by indecision…
Fortunately there was an experienced facilitator who dispensed valuable criticism and advice. Much thanks to him! Only after I had submitted did I learn that he was in fact a photographer for the local newspaper Today.
So these are my final triplet. I hope I get into the book!
