Sketch Swap is a relatively new website which has but one simple purpose: tellingly, to allow people to swap sketches. There isn’t much in the way of features, comprising only one big blank canvas, a pen tool with a fixed size, and a submit button.
The whole process of swapping sketches itself is easy enough, almost ingenious: you draw something, hit the submit button when you’re done, and receive a random drawing from someone else who’s doen the same. Apparently, the creators of the site review each and every sketch to weed out spam, hate and general nonsense.
The website, despite its shortcomings, revels in its simplicity. The only thing I could wish for is an erase tool, but perhaps this limiting factor actually contributes to the experience of spontaneous sketching. It’s always a surprise to get something new and interesting each time.
Here’s one that I submitted:
And I here’s what I got in return for my 5 minutes’ worth:
I think the ‘VIP’ signature on that drawing means the artist’s a 2ch user. Seems like the Japanese-speaking community is taking to this nifty little website as much as I am.
