A (Cleverly Crafted) Response to Prim (And Her New Blog)

Prim, for no apparent reason whatsoever, has decided to start writing on a new blog she christens ‘Almost Tangible‘. It’s title has a meaning so abstract that people have taken to disregard it entirely and have fallen into the habit of labelling her creation, fittingly titularly, ‘Prim’s Blog’. That’s none the matter, for I think that little bit of uninfluenced initiative that her readers take to associate her so closely with her writing is evidence of the existence of that precious, personal touch that many bloggers strive valiantly, and in vain to rub off on their online territories.

It’s true that there is a prevalent yet indetectable mysterious force that compels me to do certain things. It’s called peer pressure. And Prim’s sudden arrival at the gates of blogdom has granted me the impetus to finally update, breaking a looming dry spell of typewritten words on this website. Let me convince, no, command you now that my writing on a acquaintance who has started a new blog is as compelling to read as your latest copy of The Economist. Or The Times. Or Newsweek. You get the picture. It’s top quality stuff.

If my memory doesn’t fail me like it usually does, I seem to recall her previous online journal ranked a little higher up on the scale of paranoia. Oops, I meant privacy. Privacy. Privacy that was personified as a heatless dialog box asking for a password that was seemingly impossible to crack (I think ZX tried and failed on that one), guarding the virtual entrances to her realm of heaven knows what she wrote. I shall now attempt to chronicle her meteoric progression from girl-with-closed-blog to girl-who-is-an-exceedingly-aggressive-promoter-of-open-to-public-blog.

So what exactly has prompted her rise to minor celebrity blogstar? I mean, someone in the guise of her favourite Singapore Idol contestant has posted a note in one of her post’s comments. That’s gotta count for something, right? It might well be that particular Singapore Idol contestant himself! Squeal! And even Jon Pang, one of our beloved wobblin’ contributors, has made it known that she pwns us.

I think it has to be a phase of narcissism she’s going through. Hey, that’s what got started on this website. Observe the pictures of herself she posts - not entirely unlike the many bloggers whose egos are bigger than the total amount of transferred bytes of their websites. Maybe she wants to be a MySpace girl - except without a MySpace profile. Or maybe she feels a subconcious need to express her views and life in text and in jpeg to gain some semblance of self-importance. It’s an existentialist thing: ‘I am because I blog.’ I specifically remember her relating to me that her post on America’s supposed plans of world domination is written proof of her not being ‘a bimbo or a blonde’. Unfortunately I have yet to figure out how she works out as a convincing blonde, with her black hair and Asian facial features and all.

After that bout of healthy speculation, to be honest, I still have no idea why the hell she started that blog. All I know is that wobblin’ sorely requires an update. Kyle!

To make a point, I have a sneaking suspicion that Prim’s blog actually has a higher traffic than yours
