I want a 20″ ViewSonic monitor.
There’s a huge IT sale at the moment here in Singapore. Naturally, I went for a peek today.
That 20″ is going for a fantastic price of S$799, the same as a similarly-equipped benQ I found last month. However, I’m more inclined to the ViewSonic - ViewSonic has been the brand of every single LCD monitor I’ve had, and I continually recommended them to friends looking for an opinion. The 20″ has that reassuring ‘Zero Bright Dot’ warranty, too. Not to mention the great picture with all ViewSonics. I really want it.
Funding’s a problem, though. Oh well, hopefully the progressive market pushes its price down even to even more afforable lows in the near future.
Anyways, the screen wasn’t the only product of note I encountered at the IT show. I had a hands-on with two new gaming consoles - the Nintendo DS Lite and the Xbox 360.
The DS Lite is an impressive little wonder. The screen is indeed much improved over the DS, at least in terms of brightness. I think Nintendo’s gotten the size right this time - it didn’t feel the least bit chunky. The slick new design, clothed in a sheen of milky white, was something to behold, too. If the DS Lite continues Nintendo’s trend of low price, I’d say it beats the PSP. With the inclusion of Opera browser, it’s growing to be as much of a PDA as a dual-screen gaming console.
Speaking of the PSP, I visited Sony’s booth out of curiosity and played this Bleach fighting game. It’s awesome, with some supa-slick 2D/3D graphics (it’s sorta like a cross between the two, 2D cartoons animated in 3D). Very fun, although everything was in Japanese.
Singapore’s a bit late with the Xbox 360 (it retails officially on March 16), but it’s better late than never. The Xbox 360 has amazing graphics, from what I’ve sampled of PDZ, Kameo and PGR. And multiplayer racing is, as ever, fun. I want one, too.
But the screen comes first.
