I have introduced some sort of ‘image gallery’ management to this site - it’s powered by Gallery 2 and tied into wordpress with the help of Wordpress Gallery2. I’ve replaced some of the images on the site with the exact same pictures, except managed under Gallery 2. See the Geography Field Trip, for example - I’ve made it into some sort of filed picture album. Other than these albums, there isn’t any superficial change in the way pictures are displayed.
I need this Gallery management, because there’s going to be a flurry of activity on the image front, coming right up, and I need something to manage and organize these new pictures. Folders aren’t adequate - plus it’s a hassle using HREF’s and IMG’s to link to and display thumbnails. This Gallery software automatically creates thumbnails, and I only ever need to add a short tag to insert images into posts. Perfect.
However, I haven’t quite got the hang of using it yet, and thus the album display pages (integrated into wordpress) don’t look too good - horrible, in fact - but at least it’s usable at the expense of aesthetics. It appears my wordpress theme is not quite compatible with the gallery’s theme, and so we have fugly album displays.
I’m thinking of re-theming the site, though, soon. I’ll make sure everything works properly in the next design overhaul. I just need some time, and some patience. Stupid holiday homework.
